BIRMINGHAM, February 10, 2007 –
Healthy Gay Life (HGL) is marking LGBT History Month with two ‘fun’ events
in the city’s gay village.
The Wellington, a gay pub on corner
of Bristol Street and Bromsgrove Street, is to feature an ‘entertainment and
games’ night on Saturday February 17 from 7.30pm.
Then on Tuesday February 20 there
will be a special quiz night at The Village pub (152 Hurst Street) between
8pm and 11pm.
Highlight of the special “Brum
Week” will be an LGBT History Time Line at an HGL ‘Open Evening’ on February
22 at their drop-in centre (146 Bromsgrove Street) from 5.30pm to 8pm.
In addition to the ‘Time Line’,
there will be a performance by the gay men's performance group GAPP (7pm)
and a talk by Gary Williams and David Babbington on the history of gay
prides in Birmingham, Edinburgh and London (7.30pm).
The HGL outreach team, which is
manage by the Heart of Birmingham Teaching Primary Care Trust (NHS), will be
at all events for up-to-date advice and guidance.
“We thought it was about time much
more was done to celebrate LGBT history month in Birmingham,” a spokesperson
for HGL said. “We hope to do even more next year”.
