BRIGHTON, July 30, 2008 – The
Green Party will be offering free services at the Gay Pride festival in
Preston Park, Brighton, on Saturday.
Professional therapists Elaine
Colomberg, Dena Patel and Mala Nathan will be offering free shoulder massage
sessions to festival goers.
And the Green’s stall will have
solar and pedal powered mobile phone chargers.
“We’ve got a separate information
stall, where people can chat to us and sign our petition against the
government's appalling treatment of LGBT asylum seekers,” said Nigel Tart,
the Green Party’s national spokesperson on LGBT issues.
“But we recognise that Pride is
essentially a celebration, so we want to give something back to the
community,” he continued.
'The phone charging will help
people keep in touch with friends, after burning off a few calories. It’s a
perfect example of Green technology in action.
'People can take 15 minutes out
from the madding crowds for a stress busting massage. We’re very grateful
to the therapists, who have all donated their time in order to make the best
pride in the country even better.”
Mala Nathan said that what the
Greens were offering at Pride shows how the Greens care about our health and
wellbeing.
“Dena and I are delighted to
support such a lovely idea,” commented Elaine Colomberg. “Pride can be a
stressful, hectic day and we look forward to taking some of the tension away
and helping the afternoon go more smoothly.”
