June 30: United Kingdom:   Gordon Brown Hypocritical on Gay Rights, Says Outrage(d) Gay Human Rights Leader.  Peter Tatchell this morning hit out at Gordon Brown, saying that the Prime Minister’s claims in a message of support to the gay, lesbian bisexual and transgender community ahead of Saturday’s Pride London were ‘hollow’.
June 29: United Kingdom/USA:  BBC Radio to Air Documentary Stonewall: The Riots That Triggered the Gay Revolution.  BBC Radio 2 is to air its major documentary Stonewall: The Riots That Triggered the Gay Revolution tomorrow (June 30) at 10:30pm.  Presented by Tom Robinson, the programme visits the Stonewall Inn as it is now to re-imagine the riots, and examines the legacy of this historic week of disturbances.
June 28: Hungary:   “We Will Not Be Intimidated” – Organisers of Budapest Gay Pride.  Extreme right wing groups plan to stop September’s Pride march “by all means necessary”.  Organisers of Budapest Gay Pride are calling for world-wide support for their September event which, they say, is no longer only about the rights of gay and lesbian people, but about the freedom of everyone.
June 26:
Lithuania:   Anti-Gay Law Is Vetoed by Lithuanian President.  The President of Lithuania, Valdas Adamkus, has vetoed the proposed new law which was approved last week by the Seimas (Parliament).  The law, described by an MEP this week as “a spit into the face of European values”, would ban “propaganda for homosexuality and bisexuality” as one of the “detrimental effectors” on children.  The ban will not only include schools, but will also apply to “other places accessible to youngsters”.
June 26:
  UK:  The Disgrace of So-Called Christian After Anti-Gay Rant.  Commentary by Sean Morrin.  The remarks made by Pastor Mark Bradfield in a letter to the Derry Journal last week are nothing more than disgraceful and very dangerous. 
June 24:
Lithuania:   MEPs and NGOs Protest Against Harmful and Anti Gay Law in Lithuania.  Members of the European Parliament’s Intergroup on gay and lesbian rights will today join other people and NGOs in a demonstration outside the Lithuanian permanent representation in Brussels to protest against new homophobic and oppressive law in Lithuania.
June 23: UK:  Writer Appeals for Information, Memorabilia of The Londoner Gay Club in 1950s London A book on the arts and ‘bohemian’ scene in 1950s and early 1960s London is being prepared.  And writer/lecturer Fred Vermorel is in the research stage of the project. 
June 23:
UK:  Gay, Lesbian Humanists Mark 30 Years of Achievement – but Warn of New Threats to Overcome.  The Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association (GALHA) continue their 30th anniversary celebrations with a special event next month at the Bishopsgate Institute in London that will feature GALHA vice president Michael Cashman MEP and celebrated human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell.
June 22: UK:  UK Tories Take the PiS in New Euro Political Group of Anti-Gay, Racist PartiesIt is now official.  After a few years of rumours and a year of speculation following David Cameron’s announcement that he was pulling his MEPs out of the centre-right EPP-ED group, the British Conservatives have jumped into the European Parliament “bed” with two other major Eastern European right wing parties.
June 19:
Iran/UK:  Ahmadinejad Now Admits that Gays Exist in Iran – and that They Voted Against Him.  In his latest broadside against the pro-democracy protesters in Tehran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has accused his political opponents of ‘officially recognising thieves, homosexuals and scumbags’ in order to win their votes.  “The old tyrant has let the cat of the bag,” said Peter Tatchell.
June 19: UK:   Gay Group Launches Guidance for Employers on Tensions Between Sexual Orientation and Religion.  Stonewall today publishes new guidance for employers on practical ways of managing perceived tensions between gay people and people of faith in the 21st century workplace.
June 18: Lithuania:  MEPs and Amnesty Hit Out at New Legislation that Forbids Gay Issues Being Discussed in Schools.  Two members of the European Parliament today hit out at the amendment to the legislation passed earlier this week by the Lithuanian Seimas (Parliament).  And rthey were joined by the international human rights group, Amnesty.
June 18: Gibraltar: 
Gibraltar Votes Down Bill to Equalise Gay Age of Consent.  The Gibraltar Parliament today threw out a private member’s Bill that sought to equalise the age of consent for gay men, which is currently 18.  The age of consent for heterosexuals and lesbians is 16. 
June 17:
Lithuania:  Lithuania Bans Information about Gays for Young People in Education.  The Lithuania Parliament (Seimas) has passed amended legislation that bans any positive information – or “propaganda” as it is officially called – about gays.  The measure was passed by 67 of the 74 parliamentarians voting yesterday.
June 17:  USA:  Gay Congressman “Shocked and Disappointed” at Obama’s Stance on DOMA Case.  Openly gay Representative Jared Polis said [yesterday] afternoon how he was “shocked and disappointed”  at the Obama administration’s decision last week to defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in a federal court filing.
June 15: USA:  Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender: How Many Letters Does It Take to Kill A (LGBT) Movement?  Op-Ed by Stampp Corbin.  Many know the old tune sung by Ella Fitzgerald that goes “you say either, I say eye-ther, you say neither, I say n-eye-ther. Either, eye-ther, neither, n-eye-ther, let’s call the whole thing off.”  That sums up my feeling about the struggle to name our community.  You say GLBT, I say LGBT, you say LGBTQ, I say GLBTQA, gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual … let’s call the whole thing off.
June 13: USA:  Survey Launched in UK to Address Levels of Domestic Violence in Transgender Community.  Research is being undertaken to find out how much of a concern domestic violence is among transgender people in the United Kingdom.  Little research has been undertaken in this section of the community.
June 12: USA:  Another March on Washington: To be Worth the Effort, the Gay Rights March Has to be Done Correctly. By Andy Thayer and Roger Fraser (Gay Liberation Network).  In the wake of the new tide of energetic LGBT activists generated by the Prop 8 debacle, many are floating ideas for a national LGBT march on Washington.  We think this is a good idea, but it’s got to be done right to be worth the expenditure of resources, especially in hard economic times like these.
June 10: UK:  Youth in Court Charged with Homophobic Abuse of Three Gay Men.  A thirteen year old youth from the small West Country town of Dursley pleaded not guilty at Gloucester Magistrates Youth Court today to charges, including homophobic harassment of three gay men last February. 
June 9: Russia:  Russian Gay Activists to President Obama: “Yes You Can – Legalise Same-Sex Marriage”.  Gay activists in Moscow say they will seek permission from the city authorities to stage a picket supporting same sex marriage, in both the United States and Russia, in front of the US Embassy in Moscow on July 7 during the State visit of President Obama in the Russian capital.
June 8:
UK:  New Mayor Nixes Support for Doncaster Gay Pride ... But “the Show Goes On”.  The new mayor of Doncaster has threatened to cut the council’s funding of the city’s Gay Pride, scheduled to be staged in August.  Peter Davies, who was elected mayor of Doncaster on Thursday, is from the small and right-wing English Democrats party.  He vowed in his campaign to get rid of “political correctness”.

June 4: UK: 
Gay Rights Activist Tatchell Wins Observer Campaigner of the Year.  Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell won Campaigner of the Year at the fourth Observer Ethical Awards in London last night.  He edged out runners-up Hugh Fearnley and Jamie Oliver, the TV presenters and celebrity chefs at the newspaper’s awards.
June 3: UK:  James Purnell Urges Gay, Transgender Community to Vote Tomorrow in Euro Elections.  James Purnell MP, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, met voters and supporters in Soho last night, and urged people to vote in tomorrow’s European elections, the world’s second largest excercise in democracy (after India).
June 2: UK:  The European Parliament Is a Powerful Force for Progress in Gay Rights.  By Jean Lambert MEP.  In this run up to the European elections the Green Party is “out and proud”, as four of our openly gay and lesbian Euro candidates launched our pledges for equality for LGBT people. These bring together our commitment to equality for all, and build on decades of Green campaigning on behalf of and alongside the LGBT community across London, the UK and Europe.
June 1: Gibraltar:  Gibraltar Gay Rights Group Calls on MEP Candidates and Parties to Break the “Deafening Silence” on LGBT Issues
A gay rights group last night demanded that candidates seeking election to the European Parliament say exactly where they stand on the rights of gays and lesbians in this community.
