London Fundraiser for Rugby's Bingham Cup The Shadow Lounge in London’s Soho is the latest gay nite spot to stage a fundraiser for the Bingham Cup, the world’s largest rugby union tournament for gay, bisexual and lesbian players. This year’s tournament is to be staged in London at the Esher Rugby Club in Surrey from 28-31 May. The Shadow Lounge fundraiser is to be held on Thursday May 13 when the fabulous Rose Garden and “special guests” will entertain. “It promises to be a spectacular event with top class entertainment and all money raised going toward helping players from all over the world battle it out for amateur rugby’s biggest prize,” say Alison Livingstone-Whitton, the Bingham Cup director of PR and marketing. Normal Shadow Lounge door charges will apply however; a minimum donation will also be requested with all proceeds going toward the Bingham Cup. A raffle, in which everyone who buys a ticket, will win a prize, will take place throughout the evening. Donated prizes include weekends away for two, vouchers, champagne and VIP meals. Already, the Candy Bar in Brighton & London, Compton’s and the Two Brewers have organised fundraisers that provide cash to meet the expenses of staging this international amateur sports event. The Shadow Lounge is located at 5 Brewer Street. Click here for website
