GST is a "Goods and Services Tax", though most Canadian will tell you it stands for "government sponsored theft"!  But the Canadian tax man is kind to visitors from overseas: save receipts, fill-in a form and he will give a refund.  It's all very complicated, so pick up a form and check details when there.  Most hotels will provide help.
